Sasquatch! and other band shows

This year's Sasquatch! festival should not be missed. The last weekend of May offers 3 days of great music at the spectacular Gorge Theater in George, WA, and on Sunday 30 May The Long Winters are set to appear.

The amazing line-up of the festival has attracted the attention of many music fans, and the festival has already sold out. But fret not, there are chances to see The Long Winters at some rather more intimate venues as well.

Because individually the band members have worked out all winter to be fit for the Sasquatch! extravaganza - but to make sure they are also up for it as a team, they will be doing some warm-up shows in Oregon. Two have been announced so far, more may be added. Check out the site's Shows page for all the details on these first band shows since the Fall of 2009!

ZZ Top cover on Sweetheart 2010 compilation

It was only a matter of time before The Long Winters would record a song by the most famous bearded band of all. And ZZ Top's Gimme All Your Lovin' is quite obviously the perfect choice for Starbucks Valentine's compilation called Sweetheart. Described by John Roderick as 'so fantastically wimpy that it's an act of violence against rock music' , expect to be surprised by a dressed down version of this 80's classic.

Other contributors to Sweetheart 2010 include Spoon, Yo La Tengo and fellow Barsuk act Mates of State. The album is available on iTunes and can be purchased in Starbucks stores.

Bowie tribute without John

Due to other commitments, John Roderick has had to cancel his appearance at the Bowie tribute night at the Moore Theater in Seattle. The line-up remains impressive, with the 100 piece Seattle Rock Orchestra and choir, and guest vocalists including Jon Auer (Posies), David Terry (Aqueduct) and many more.
